Pokémon has always been awesome, and Nintendo have just raised the bar again for their
10th anniversairy of portable RPGs.

Heartgold and Soulsilver are remakes of their Game Boy Colour ancestors,
not only that, but the graphics have been souped up, battle scenes have been
beefed out and the music has evolved greatly.
(see what I did there? Evolved, huh?)

Gameplay 10/10
The gameplay that has made Pokémon games great throughout the
years hasn't changed much, but the changes that have been made
have always made a huge difference to the overall condition of the game.

As all Pokémon games have, there are 8 Gym Leaders to defeat,
training your Pokémon in between the various towns and Cities throughout
the Johto region, on your way to becoming the best trainer in the world:

The Pokémon Champion.

This is achieved by gaining all 8 Gym Badges obtained by
defeating gym leaders and then travelling to the Indigo Plateau
where you face off against the Elite Four and finally the Champion,
'ending' your journey.

But Gold and Silver were no ordinary Pokémon games. They didn't
feature just one reigon, but TWO.

Yep, that's right. After you become the Johto Pokémon Champion,
you can travel to the Kanto reigon, where the very first Pokémon
games were situated. You could capture twice as many Pokémon,
collect Twice as many Gym Badges and become twice the Champion
you already were. Beating the 8 Gym Leaders of Kanto granted you
access to a Higher-leveled and more brutal Pokémon League.

In HeartGold and SoulSilver: You can capture 4 times as many Pokémon
due to these two remakes being released just after the final game of
Generation IV: Pokémon Platinum. Plus Wi-Fi capabilities make it that
much more satisfying.

Graphics 10/10
In HeartGold and SoulSilver, Nintendo have taken Generation IV's
graphics and made them better, for the sake of making the remakes
look like remakes.

The cutscene just before you battle the Pokémon on your version's
Cover (Ho-Oh or Lugia) is awesome for what the DS can handle.

Judging by that cutscene alone, I would say the DS's graphical
capabilities have surpassed the N64, and possibly the the original

Music 10/10
One word: GODLIKE (well, one or two, depending on how you look at it)

They have taken the already awesome music of Generation II and brought
it up to Generation IV and ABOVE's standards. Easily the best tracks in
the game are the Vs. Rival battle theme and the Wild Pokémon themes
from Johto and Kanto.

Multiplayer 9/10
Since their birth, Pokémon games have always had a multiplayer mode
in them. Wether it be via Link Cable for Generation I & II, Wireless Adapter
for Generation III or DS Wireless communications and Wi-Fi for Generation
IV, there's something you can use to play with other people and not just the
countless AI you find in the game's story.

Yes, there is a slight connection pause, (not Lag, just a pause) when
you choose attacks, but that is to calculate damage, weaknesses and
resistances and all that stuff.

Replay Value 11/10
Now that Pokémon has 493 Pokémon to catch, you will be travelling
all over the place to capture those rare Pokémon you once missed on
your first playthrough. The Pokédex needs filling up and the only
way to complete it is to follow that ancient trademark slogan:
'Gotta Catch 'em all!TM'

Besides that, the multiplayer is endless and you can challenge the
Pokémon League as many times as you want. Also if you beat all
16 Gym Leaders over Kanto and Johto, beat the Pokémon league on
the Johto side and the Kanto side, you will have access to climb the
top of Mt. Silver: A mountain that shoots up between Kanto and Johto.
One final epic battle awaits you at the summit against a character called 'Red'.

Red is the main protagonist from the Generation I games on the first
Game Boy Pocket. But, beware and be very careful against this guy.
He is basically Ash Ketchum from the anime series of Pokémon:
A Legend.

His Pokémon are Lv.80 and above his highest being Pikachu at Lv.88!

(FACT: This Pikachu holds the record for the highest leveled AI Pokémon in any Pokémon game to date!)

Overall 9.9/10
Once again, Nintendo have astounded us with their unparalleled
knowledge of tiny monsters that fight to the death and crammed
it all on to one tiny card for us to enjoy again and again. I think it's
a great game, you might too, because deep down, everyone wants
to catch 'em all(TM).

The pause is not to calculate damage, it is to generate a suitable netcode as players function differently from AI

And where did you find this out? Pray tell. It is to calculate resistance, weaknesses, external effects (Such as the secondary effect of most Electric type moves, They have a 30% chance of paralysis on contact), abilities and damage rates.

Sending that all over Wi-Fi is bound to cause a slight lag in gameplay speed.

Other than that, the Wi-Fi is totally polished...Well, better than SSBB anyway.

Silver after i talked to Oak i think lol can't remember what for but, yeah i could definitely get to Mt. Silver before beating the elite four
